A clear mandate for the future
Anyone interested in the year-round activities of Mix for Kids, the places where children in need are helped or the donations that make the work of the non-profit possible can find detailed information on what they are looking for at www.mixforkids.de. Written features and images documenting the goings on at Mix for Kids also regularly appear in local media, such as the Main-Post and the Kitzinger Zeitung.
However, the association is also obligated to update its members – who currently number 135 – about its activities and finances in an official capacity at an annual meeting, which also represents an opportunity for the members to help shape the work of the association by submitting proposals and resolutions. Although no board elections were scheduled for this year, the members nonetheless gave the association’s management, headed by chair Silke Wurlitzer, a clear mandate: 2025 should see the children’s aid projects in India, Albania, South Africa and Germany continue as before and to the same extent.
In India, the association’s work provides educational opportunities to young people in the form of practical courses like glass painting, arts and crafts, sewing and cosmetics to open the door to earning their own living in the future. In Albania, meanwhile, neurodivergent school children are given individual support with their motor skills through handicrafts, music, dance and sports alongside their regular classes. Mix for Kids also supports a children’s home in South Africa, providing clothing, school supplies and other everyday items.
The association’s money also goes to Germany. At the children’s home in Geesdorf, group excursions, a summer vacation and renovations for a hobby room in need of repair have improved the lives of the boys and girls there. What’s more, the “Spieli” children’s center in Würzburg will also be able to continue offering professionally led yoga classes and replace its sports and leisure equipment thanks to Mix for Kids.
At the end of the AGM, treasurer Sabine Schmidbauer was proud to present an important KPI: with the projects approved for the coming year, Mix for Kids has now donated a total of 260,000 euros to helping children and adolescents since it was founded in 2018.
