Soccer players show a social streak

Soccer and Mix for Kids have always had a very special link. Steffen Mix, in whose memory the Association was founded, was a successful referee. He lived and breathed sportsmanship. Not least because of this, Mix for Kids is committed to promoting team sports across its aid projects in tandem with food security, equal opportunities and education. Children and teenagers alike love playing soccer in the Mix for Kids sports groups in India.

What then could be more natural than partnering with an association that stands for the very same values in order to help raise awareness of the work of Mix for Kids. In Abtswind’s sporting association, the Turn- und Sportverein Abtswind (Germany), Mix for Kids has found just that with a partner who provides a whole host of advertising spaces totally free of charge. “We think Mix for Kids’ commitment to society is admirable and can identify with it across the board, especially as Steffen Mix was registered here with us as a referee,” explained Ulrich Zehnder, the chair of TSV Abtswind. “And so, we are delighted to support this initiative.”

The collaboration does not quite fall under either sports sponsorship or a traditional advertising partnership. Instead, the emphasis is on the social aspect. “It says a great deal about TSV Abtswind that they are trying to raise awareness of our ideals and goals so that we can carry on realizing support projects in India, Albania and Germany for children and teenagers with help from our committed members and donors,” explained Silke Wurlitzer, the head of Mix for Kids. “After all, like TSV, we too are an association from Abtswind.”

In future, the Mix for Kids logo will be on display all over TSV Abtswind: Most prominently, on the team’s soccer jerseys where they will be seen every week at their games by spectators and the media alike. Two billboards, each two and a half meters wide, will also catch the public’s eye – and that of the camera – along the touchlines at the local Kräuter Mix Arena.

In addition, a printed soccer magazine with an advertisement for Mix for Kids will be published for all home games. Posters, flyers and donation boxes at the sports club will draw attention to the partnership. Advertising banners on TSV Abtswind’s website, on their sponsorship board in the clubhouse, across the sports grounds and on cards detailing the season’s fixtures will round off both the digital and analog presence.
