The Mix for Kids support in 2021
Mix for Kids is committed to helping disadvantaged children and young people in India, Albania and Germany, and to promoting a life worth living. In 2021, the association is again supporting a number of projects, all thanks to membership fees and donations:
Healthcare camps and hygiene training for Indian street children
500 girls and boys – children living on the streets of the Indian city of Vadodara and struggling to survive – are getting help. In twelve healthcare camps, they receive loving attention and empathy for their worries and needs plus medical treatment and education as well as in-depth training in hygiene, healthy nutrition and potential health risks.
Empowering women and mothers through making and marketing traditional Indian spice blends
Since 2018, Mix for Kids has been funding the “Spice Women” project, which will be continued in 2021. Women and mothers are organized in self-help groups and practice making and marketing traditional Indian spices. This involves learning about ingredients, techniques for drying and preservation, preparation of the blends, hygiene rules, quality control, bookkeeping, marketing and personal appearance. Mix for Kids believes that supporting and educating mothers is an effective way to help children and young people in Indian shanty towns.
Soccer training and healthy nutrition for Indian children
90 girls and boys from the slums of Vadodara receive sports equipment, soccer training and healthy food after every second practice. Supervised by professional coaches, the children practice regularly and take part in competitions. This allows them to draw strength and mental fortitude as well as to acquire, while playing, important values such as team spirit, fairness, tolerance and discipline.
Scholarships and lunches for students in Albania
Now that the three girls from disadvantaged families that were financially supported by Mix for Kids have graduated from the Don Bosco Center in Shkodra, another three girls will receive scholarships to attend secondary school. In addition, Mix for Kids is making a significant contribution to ensuring that 35 children who stay at school longer due to their social circumstances and whose parents cannot afford to pay for lunch receive a hot, healthy meal at school every day free of charge for the duration of one year.
Geesdorf children and adolescent home
It felt like Christmas came early at the children and adolescent home in Geesdorf (Germany) as Mix for Kids donated three new laptops and two color-laser multi-purpose printers for distance learning during the Covid pandemic. In 2021, the charity will continue to support the social institution, which is home to nine children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 19. It has not been determined yet for what exactly the donation will be used.
