Spring visits to Mix for Kids’ project partners

Ongoing support for Geesdorf children’s home and Würzburg children’s center in 2025
Dressed in full costume, the Mix for Kids Easter Bunny recently handed out spring surprises to the children living at the children and adolescents’ home in Geesdorf, Germany. Meanwhile, at Spieli, the children’s activity center in the Zellerau district of Würzburg, representatives of the non-profit association discussed projects present and future with youth and residential worker Isabelle Hassemer, who runs Spieli.
Neither visit saw Mix for Kids come empty handed, at least figuratively speaking! The charity handed over four-figure donations to both organizations, marking their continued support for the respective children in 2025.
A summer vacation to the Rhön Mountains for children in care
Mix for Kids has once again chosen to fund a summer vacation for the children at the Geesdorf children and adolescents’ home, this time with a very specific donation of €1,635.42. The money comes from the €1,500 won in the 2024 ‘Förderpenny’ supermarket campaign as well as additional donations made by customers rounding up their purchases at the Penny discount supermarket in Volkach, Germany. The children, aged between four and sixteen, are already full of excitement for their week-long trip, which they will spend in a vacation home in the Rhön Mountains from August 20–27.

Yoga and a pool for Spieli’s children
When Spieli’s leader showed the visitors from Mix for Kids around the grounds of the children’s center in Würzburg, the guests were able to see for themselves the enthusiasm of the children playing. Depending on both the season and the weather, some 30 to 80 children between the ages of six and fourteen visit the free children’s center every day. Isabelle Hassemer was keen to note that these children often come from socially disadvantaged backgrounds or migrant families. At Spieli, they find an open environment where they can learn new skills and engage with new ideas free of charge.

Thanks to funding from Mix for Kids, Spieli was able to add a yoga course on improving body-sensing and well-being. The course, which is led by a dedicated yoga teacher, has been hugely popular with the children, teaching them to focus inward and giving them a new experience of body scanning and finding inner peace. Thanks to the latest donations from Mix for Kids, the course will continue in 2025. What’s more, Mix for Kids is also supporting the purchase of a new outdoor pool for cooling off on hot summer days, including replacement swimwear, as well as repairs to the center’s many bikes.

Exercise, arts and crafts. The children at the Spieli have a wide range of activities to choose from.
