Nature Knowledge, Creative Fun, and a Commitment to a Good Cause

Bright sunshine, numerous hands-on activities, and plenty of smiling faces made the Nature Experience Day on September 6 at the 1. FC Feuerbach grounds a memorable event. Approximately 90 children registered to attend, accompanied by their parents, siblings, and grandparents. In total, around 300 visitors took advantage of the opportunity to participate in the free event and enjoy a fun-filled day in nature.

The wide variety of creative and interactive activities was met with great enthusiasm throughout the day. Particularly popular were decorating ballpoint pens with colorful beads and making dreamcatchers from natural materials. The “Secret Mom Station” was another favorite among the children. There, they created personalized phone charms with glow-in-the-dark letters as a special keepsake. Building squirrel feeders also proved highly popular. Under the guidance of Matthias Mann from the local heritage preservation group “Arbeitskreis Heimat erhalten Wiesentheid,” the children built their own feeding stations using screwdrivers and cordless drills.

Additional activities included soccer sessions with Adrian Dußler, wreath-making with Alexandra Mönius, and children’s yoga led by Tanja Baum. Young visitors also had the opportunity to explore nature in a unique way. During a stream exploration led by a biologist from Bund Naturschutz and an herb walk guided by two herbal experts, they learned fascinating facts about local plants and wildlife. Afterwards, the children made their own herbal salt from fresh herbs and filled it into beautifully decorated jars.

The forest project led by a local forester from the Bavarian Forest Administration was another highlight. Through interactive games, the children explored the forest from the perspectives of animals, mountain bikers, and hikers. They were then challenged to balance these different interests using a wooden disc suspended by ropes. The Jim-Joe memory game, organized by the Catholic German Women’s Association, provided additional fun, with forest animal-themed drawstring bags awarded as prizes to the winners.

Doing Good Together with Mix for Kids

FC Feuerbach supported the Nature Experience Day in many ways. In addition to providing the event grounds, the club also made its clubhouse and restroom facilities available. Drinks and sausages were offered at family-friendly prices and Mix for Kids could also rely on the club’s active support during setup and cleanup.

The event’s positive reception was also reflected in the amount raised. A total of €550 was collected through the sale of coffee, cake, and handcrafted decorative items. The proceeds will benefit Eva-Maria Menghin, who has lived with Angelman syndrome since birth. This rare genetic disorder affects both her and her family in their daily lives and presents ongoing challenges. To provide additional financial support, Mix for Kids will supplement the proceeds from the Nature Experience Day, bringing the total donation to €1,000.
