‘Cycle to work’ campaign sees the company raise 4,000 euros for children’s aid projects

15 cents for every kilometer cycled: 2024 once again saw Abtswind’s Kräuter Mix GmbH convert each commute cycled into a donation for the association Mix for Kids under insurance company AOK’s national ‘Cycle to work’ campaign. The team peddled a total of 25,768 kilometers, clocking in at 3,865 euros.

The company rounded the total up to a neat 4,000, funds which will go to the non-profit Mix for Kids for their work supporting children in need. The donation will finance aid projects in India, Albania, South Africa and Germany. Ultimately, 53 employees committed to a more sustainable choice and cycled to work, with around three quarters commuting by bike for at least 20 days between May and August. In doing so, they not only supported projects for disadvantaged children and teenagers, but they also boosted their own wellbeing by exercising in the fresh air and made a green lifestyle change by switching to a more sustainable mode of transport.

Over the course of the campaign, employees Doris Golm and Roland Gromann both cycled exactly 1,428 kilometers on their ways to work, closely followed by colleagues Carsten Schüssler and Dirk Dorbath. All participants from the Abtswind-based company were treated to high-quality multifunctional snoods, with the top-finishers also receiving restaurant vouchers. The keen cyclists who clocked up the most kilometers joined representatives from the employee committee, the human resources department and the Mix for Kids association to award the check and accept their prizes.
