Early 2022 saw a fresh lease of life brought to a rural property in Kaltensondheim, Germany. The freshly furnished children’s home is now home to four children between the ages of six and eleven who are cared for around the clock by a team of educators and social workers. “We live together like a family,” says Christoph Hofmann, the manager of the children’s home. The home is one of six residential groups at the Erich-Kästner-Kinderdorf children’s community in Oberschwarzach.
The children attend a number of different schools in the area or the community’s at-home classes, which are tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. However, the home was missing the laptop and tablet needed for the children’s learning – this was where Mix for Kids stepped in, donating the devices to the home, which the children will use for their homework and studies.
