This year’s Christmas market in Abtswind, Germany, saw Christl Sauerhammer kindly sell her homemade holiday decorations at Café zur Linde for a donation to Mix for Kids.

Christl put her creativity to good use, giving no longer needed items, including test tubes, glass bottles, gutter brushes and scrap wood, a new lease of life as all different kinds of holiday decorations. Her husband got stuck in too, with the pair transforming old materials such as metal plates and sieve frames from Kräuter Mix, where Christl works in the laboratory, into holiday wreaths, coasters and vases.

Abtswind’s Christmas market provided the perfect opportunity to sell the revamped decorations: visitors were able to purchase Christl’s crafts in exchange for a donation to Mix for Kids, with the charity receiving a total of 70 euros. While visitor numbers and corresponding donations were lower than she had hoped, Christl nonetheless spread a good deal of holiday cheer with her wonderful crafts.
