Big smiles for Schlawine, Candy and Lotte
Clown doctors Schlawine, Candy and Lotte were delighted to visit Mix for Kids and spend some time amusing board members Silke Wurlitzer, Gertraud Mix and Sabine Schmidbauer. But even these jokers stopped clowning around when they saw the check with their name on it and the sum of 1,000 euros – the amount Mix for Kids donated to the clown doctors. Schlawine, Candy and Lotte were over the moon and truly touched.
With the money, these three clown doctors, as well as other local clowns, can continue to visit children in hospitals, spreading joy and putting a smile on the little patients’ faces. The clowns spend a morning or afternoon going from room to room using laughter as medicine. Tatjana Kapp, Elke Obermeier and Gudrun Greubel are the people behind Schlawine, Candy and Lotte, but they join many others from the Würzburg charitable association Lachtränen in Germany. These clown doctors are specially trained artists, therapists and educators as well as talented entertainers, often with medical training too.
The clown doctors’ visits are funded entirely by donations. The clown doctors are one of the long-term projects supported by Mix for Kids over a number of years.
