Mix for Kids is committed to helping disadvantaged children and teenagers in India, Albania and Germany, and to improving their quality of life. In 2022, the association will once again finance a number of social and educational projects that have only been made possible through membership fees and donations.

India
290 homeless children from Vadodara in the state of Gujarat are being supported through several courses in which their technical skills and creativity are encouraged, encouraging them to learn a variety of skills. The 160 girls and 130 boys up to the age of 18 are being taught vocational activities that will give them the chance to earn their own livelihoods in the future. The education programs, which take place under the guidance of qualified teachers, include stained glass and artisan craftworking, tailoring and beauty courses, as well as a sports and nutrition program.

Albania
In addition to the existing scholarships that three girls from disadvantaged backgrounds are receiving that allow them to attend high school at the Don Bosco Center in Shkodra, a music project for sensory-motor support and for inclusion is being launched at the Mary Help of Christians School. The aim is to give children with autism, ADHD or intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop their language and socialization skills through music.

Since there are currently only a few musical instruments at the school, drums, triangles, flutes, guitars, among other things, are being purchased. Every single one of the 40 children who requires special support because of their disabilities is receiving an individualized curriculum for music therapy.

Germany
The Children and Adolescents’ Home in Geesdorf is social and educational facility that gives nine boys and girls between the ages of three and sixteen a home because, for various reasons, they are unable to live with their parents. The home has been around for 45 years and unfortunately its kitchen is equally as old, despite having been partially fixed several times over the years. Now, it’s beyond repair. Some of the hinges are so rusted that they can no longer be tightened. The doors get stuck, the oven is broken and the refrigerator both too small and too old.

The kitchen is the communal hub of daily life for the children and their carers. They cook, prepare meals and bake there together, and everyone helps with the household tasks. Therefore, Mix for Kids is contributing towards financing a new kitchen.
